Bonnie Tyler Wakes From Coma as Team Shares New Update on Her Serious Health Battle

Bonnie Tyler has reportedly woken up from a medically induced coma, giving fans the first major update on her condition after weeks of concern. The 75-year-old singer remains hospitalized in Portugal, but her team says there has been some improvement.

According to a statement from her representative, Bonnie is no longer in a coma. However, the update also made clear that she remains seriously ill and still has a long recovery ahead.

Her team said her condition is improving, but the recovery process is slow. The statement has brought relief to fans who had been waiting anxiously for news about the Welsh music legend.

Tyler is currently being treated in intensive care at a hospital in Faro, in southern Portugal. Doctors reportedly expect her to make a full recovery, though she remains in serious condition for now.

The health crisis began in April after Tyler arrived at her second home in Portugal. She had already undergone tests in London, but those tests reportedly did not give clear answers.

Soon after arriving in Portugal, she began suffering severe abdominal pain and was rushed to hospital. Doctors later discovered a serious bowel tear that required emergency surgery.

The operation was followed by complications, including reports of a serious infection. As her condition worsened, doctors decided in May to place her in a medically induced coma to help manage the situation.

Portuguese media reports said Tyler later suffered cardiac arrest when doctors first tried to bring her out of the coma. That development led to weeks of uncertainty and deep concern among fans around the world.

Because of her hospitalization, all of Tyler’s scheduled concerts through the end of August have been cancelled. Her team said the focus now is fully on her health and recovery.

Her management also thanked fans and the wider music community for their support. They said the messages of sympathy from around the world had meant a great deal during such a frightening period.

Tyler remains best known for her powerful 1983 hit “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” one of the most recognizable songs of her career. She also became widely known for songs such as “It’s a Heartache” and “Holding Out for a Hero.”

Born in Mumbles, South Wales, Tyler built a career that has lasted for decades. Her unmistakable voice helped her become one of the most recognizable performers of her generation.

She also represented the United Kingdom at Eurovision in 2013 with “Believe in Me.” Years later, she continued recording and performing, releasing her 18th studio album, The Best Is Yet to Come, in 2021.

Tyler has often spoken about her love of performing and her desire to keep going. In past interviews, she said she had no plans to retire and pointed to artists like Tom Jones as inspiration.

Now, fans are hoping for the comeback that matters most: her recovery. After weeks of silence and worry, the news that Bonnie Tyler is awake has brought hope, even as her team makes clear that the road ahead remains difficult.
