Jelly Roll Gets Real About Struggles at His Heaviest: “I Couldn’t Even Wipe My Own A”**

Jelly Roll

Jelly Roll is on a serious mission — and he’s not holding anything back, not even the messy details.

The country music star (real name Jason DeFord) has shed over 100 pounds in the past year, and he’s not stopping there. Once tipping the scales at 550 lbs, Jelly Roll has completely overhauled his lifestyle and has even signed up for his second 5K this spring. He’s also launched a Facebook group called Losers Run Club, a space where fans can share weight loss tips, support each other, and chase healthier lives together.

But this transformation hasn’t just been about appearances — it’s been about reclaiming his life. Speaking openly about the lowest point in his health journey, Jelly Roll once admitted:

“A little bit over a year ago, I literally struggled to walk down my hill to the mailbox. I mean, it was really bad. I had let myself get to a point of being absolutely disgusted with myself.”

Turns out, walking to the mailbox wasn’t the only thing that had become nearly impossible.

In a brutally honest (and absolutely hilarious) appearance on the Bussin’ With the Boys podcast, Jelly Roll sat down with friend and fellow country artist Ernest and cracked everyone up with stories about one of the most inconvenient struggles of being 550 pounds:

“I couldn’t wipe my ass. At 550 lbs, dude, it was a f**ing workout. I would have to put my arm on the wall and turn a little bit, making sure the wall would keep me that way… You have no clue what a 550 lb man has to do to wipe his ass.”*

That moment of real talk had the podcast hosts in stitches — and Jelly Roll wasn’t done.

He shared that one of the best tools he discovered during that time was a bidet, which, in his words, “helped me so much. So, so much.” But even now, after dropping a significant amount of weight, those old habits linger.

“You gotta put the shoulder there… I had to do it for so long. I went to do it the other day out of habit. I was like, ‘I don’t have to do that no more. I can just f**ing wipe.’ You know what I’m saying? It’s crazy.”*

His transformation, though filled with humor, is also incredibly inspiring. At 375 lbs, he still considers himself a work in progress — but also proof of how far he’s come.

“I was so fat that I have lost all of this weight and am gonna lose another 100 lbs. I was so fat that I’m still fat. Think about that — I’m sitting on your bus right now at 375 lbs., and we’re proud of me.”

And proud is exactly what he should be. Beyond the numbers on the scale, Jelly Roll has faced real health scares — including hormone imbalances where his estrogen levels were higher than his testosterone, something his doctor said was among the lowest they’d ever seen.

But now, he’s moving forward — running, lifting, inspiring others, and yes, comfortably wiping his own ass. It’s the little victories that mean the most.

In Jelly Roll’s own unfiltered words, his story isn’t just about weight loss — it’s about winning his life back, one sweaty mile, one Facebook post, and one less awkward bathroom break at a time.
