KENNA ELPERS BREAKS HER SILENCE — 23-Year-Old Singer Shares Emotional Message After Riley Green Sends Her Home

Kenna Elpers is speaking out after her The Voice journey came to an unexpectedly early end during the Season 30 Battle Rounds.

The 23-year-old Evansville singer was eliminated after Riley Green paired her against one of Team Riley’s most talked-about contestants, 19-year-old Joe Henley.

The two were given an especially challenging assignment.

Instead of performing a random country duet, Riley asked Kenna and Joe to sing “Don’t Mind If I Do,” the song he originally recorded with Ella Langley.

Country star Carly Pearce joined Riley as a Battle advisor while the pair prepared for the performance.

Their different voices created a striking contrast.

Joe brought the deep traditional-country tone that had already caught the coaches’ attention during his Blind Audition, while Kenna added lighter harmonies and a distinctive vibrato.

Kelly Clarkson was particularly impressed by Kenna.

She compared aspects of Kenna’s vocal sound to Alison Krauss, while also praising Joe’s commanding low register and drawing a comparison to Randy Travis.

Adam Levine also praised Joe’s recognizability, arguing that his voice has the kind of distinctive quality listeners could identify immediately on the radio.

Queen Latifah similarly responded strongly to Joe.

That left Riley with an extremely difficult decision.

But before announcing the winner, Riley made sure Kenna understood how important she had been to the performance.

He told her that Joe likely could not have delivered the same Battle without her support and acknowledged how hard she had worked preparing the duet.

Riley later admitted that pairing the two singers together had made his own decision much harder than expected.

Ultimately, however, Riley chose Joe Henley to advance.

He explained that there was nothing Kenna had done wrong.

Instead, Riley believed Joe possessed an unusually distinctive voice and raw talent that he wanted to continue developing as the competition heads toward Cut Week.

That meant Kenna’s Voice journey was over.

But her first public response contained no anger toward Riley and no bitterness toward Joe.

Instead, Kenna reflected on why she had joined the competition in the first place.

She revealed that she had entered The Voice with three personal goals: learn as much as possible, remain true to herself, and build lasting friendships.

Looking back, Kenna said she believed she accomplished all three — and gained even more than she expected.

She also said the experience strengthened her faith and helped her find more peace in situations she couldn’t control.

Kenna thanked The Voice for turning a childhood dream into reality and expressed gratitude to Riley and Carly for everything they taught her during the process.

But one of the most telling parts of her message was directed toward the singer who had just defeated her.

Kenna told Joe he was “made for this” and encouraged him to keep shining as he moves deeper into the competition.

The supportive message stood out because viewers had already begun debating Riley’s decision.

Some fans were disappointed to see Kenna leave, with several praising the unique softness of her voice and saying they wanted to hear more from her after the Battle.

Even outside fan reactions, the matchup itself had been remarkably close. One recap described Joe and Kenna as evenly matched while expressing disappointment that Kenna’s Alison Krauss-like tone would not continue in the competition.

Kenna, however, doesn’t appear interested in treating the elimination as an ending.

Her post concluded with a five-word declaration that made her plans clear:

“THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING!”

And considering the response to her Battle, that may be more than a hopeful message.

Kenna may no longer be competing for Team Riley, but she leaves The Voice with a larger audience, new friendships and a performance that made plenty of viewers wish her run had lasted longer.

Joe Henley moves forward.

Kenna Elpers goes home.

But judging by her first message after the elimination, she has no intention of allowing one Battle result to decide what happens next.
