Mike Farrell has shared an emotional tribute to his wife, Shelley Fabares, following her passing at the age of 82, bringing renewed attention to one of Hollywood’s longest and most quietly enduring marriages.
Fabares passed away in Los Angeles on August 22, 2026, following a brief illness. Her family said she was surrounded by people who loved her during her final moments.
Farrell, 87, who became famous as Captain B.J. Hunnicutt on MASH*, later shared the news publicly in a deeply personal family statement.
He described Shelley as far more than the actress generations of viewers remembered from television.
To the people closest to her, Farrell said she had been a constant source of love, strength, laughter and comfort, someone whose warmth and humor shaped the lives of the people around her.
