NEW CAREER MOVE — Carson Daly Takes On Another Major TV Role as His ‘The Voice’ Future Enters a New Chapter

Carson Daly may be entering one of the biggest transitions of his television career after spending 15 years as the familiar face guiding contestants through The Voice.

The 53-year-old has hosted the NBC singing competition since its very first season in 2011 and returned once again for the milestone Season 30.

But with The Voice preparing to introduce an entirely different format next year, viewers are beginning to notice Daly popping up more frequently somewhere else on NBC.

Recently, Daly has appeared on weekend editions of Today for three consecutive weeks, in addition to his regular weekday responsibilities on the morning show. The increased screen time has led some viewers to wonder whether NBC could eventually give him an expanded or more permanent role.

For now, however, that remains speculation.

NBC has not announced a new permanent anchor position for Daly, and there has been no confirmation that his recent weekend appearances represent an official promotion.

Still, the timing has attracted attention because The Voice itself is about to undergo a major change.

NBC has announced The Voice: Celebrity for spring 2027, a new version in which famous contestants rather than unknown singers will compete.

Keke Palmer will host the celebrity edition, while Queen Latifah, Riley Green and Joe Jonas will serve as coaches.

When Palmer’s hiring was first announced, some fans immediately assumed that Daly had been replaced altogether.

Daly quickly pushed back on that interpretation.

He explained that he simply didn’t believe he was the right host for the new celebrity format and emphasized that he was still part of The Voice family.

Daly will also remain involved behind the scenes as an executive producer.

So while Season 30 could represent the end of an era before the franchise temporarily changes direction, Daly has not publicly announced that he is completely leaving The Voice.

At the same time, another unexpected project is taking him all the way back to the show that first made him a household name.

Daly recently returned to the legendary Times Square studio associated with MTV’s Total Request Live to film a new TRL reunion special.

He hosted TRL from 1998 until 2003, becoming one of the most recognizable television personalities of the late ’90s and early 2000s while interviewing some of the era’s biggest music stars.

The upcoming reunion, which Daly is producing alongside original TRL creator Tony DiSanto, is expected to premiere on Roku in 2027. Familiar names including JoJo, Mýa, Ashanti, JC Chasez and Nelly were reportedly involved in filming, although the complete guest lineup has not yet been officially announced.

That means Daly now has several different television chapters unfolding at once.

He remains the host of The Voice Season 30, continues his work on Today, will help produce The Voice: Celebrity, and is returning to his TRL roots for a nostalgia-filled reunion project.

Whether his growing presence on Today eventually turns into something bigger remains unknown.

But one thing is already clear: even as The Voice prepares for one of its biggest format changes ever, Carson Daly isn’t disappearing from television.

Instead, he may simply be shifting into the next phase of a career that has already stretched from MTV’s biggest music countdown to morning television and 30 seasons inside The Voice.
