Allie Rae may have entered The Voice Season 30 as one of the youngest singers in the competition, but the 15-year-old from Santa Fe, Texas, already had considerably more stage experience than viewers might have realized.
For her Blind Audition, Allie performed Alannah Myles’ “Black Velvet,” bringing a mix of country, blues and rock influences to a song that immediately caught the attention of the coaches. NBC later highlighted the performance as one of the season’s featured auditions.
Riley Green was the first coach to turn his chair, quickly signaling that Allie had the kind of voice he was hoping to add to his first-ever team on The Voice.
Kelly Clarkson soon joined him, followed by Queen Latifah, giving Allie an impressive three-chair turn while Adam Levine remained facing away.

Kelly was particularly interested in the unusual qualities of Allie’s voice. She compared parts of her vibrato to Dolly Parton while also hearing shades of Alison Krauss in the young singer’s delivery.
Those comparisons immediately raised expectations, especially considering Allie was only 15 when she stepped onto one of television’s biggest singing stages.
But Riley wasn’t interested in taking the chance that Kelly or Queen might convince her to join their teams.
Because Riley had been the first coach to turn, he was able to activate the new First-In Button, a Season 30 advantage that allowed him to immediately secure Allie before the normal coach-selection battle could play out.
The move surprised the other coaches and officially made Allie a member of Team Riley, ending what otherwise could have become one of the night’s most competitive battles.
But Allie’s musical story didn’t begin on The Voice.
Before appearing on the show, she had already been building a reputation around the Texas music scene. In 2025, she was identified as one of the young homegrown performers appearing at the TexRed Music Festival alongside established Texas artists.
Even more impressively, Allie had already won the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo’s Rodeo Rockstar contest, giving her a major accomplishment before she ever walked onto The Voice stage.
That background helps explain why Allie appeared so comfortable performing despite her age. She wasn’t simply a teenager trying a major stage for the first time — she had already been singing in front of live audiences and competing before arriving at the Blind Auditions.
Her musical influences also stretch beyond one corner of country music. During her Voice appearance, she discussed artists ranging from classic country and soul to blues, which helps explain the combination of styles the coaches heard in “Black Velvet.”
Now Allie enters the next stage of the competition with Riley Green as her coach and far more attention than she had before. The First-In Button guaranteed Riley wouldn’t lose her during the Blind Auditions — but her earlier competition win and growing Texas performance résumé suggest that The Voice may only be the latest chapter in a music career that started well before viewers first saw her red-chair moment.
