The Voice Season 30 is officially moving deeper into the Battles, and the competition is about to become much more intense after Riley Green’s first elimination left viewers divided.
The Battle Rounds continue on Monday, October 12, and Tuesday, October 13, with both episodes airing at 8 p.m. on NBC.
And after viewers saw just one Battle at the end of the Blind Auditions, the upcoming episodes will dramatically accelerate the competition with several new head-to-head matchups.
The first Battle of Season 30 belonged to Team Riley.
Riley paired Nashville country singer Brandy Neelly against sister duo Ferryn and Brinkley Wright for a performance of Miranda Lambert’s “Mama’s Broken Heart.”

Country singer Carly Pearce joined Riley as his Battle advisor while all three contestants prepared for the performance.
When they finally took the stage, the coaches praised both sides.
Kelly Clarkson acknowledged that Brandy faced a difficult challenge competing against sisters who already possessed naturally tight harmonies, but she also praised Brandy for managing to stand out as a solo singer.
Adam Levine praised the three-part harmonies, while Riley admitted the decision was extremely difficult.
Ultimately, Riley chose Ferryn & Brinkley to move forward.
He pointed to their sibling harmonies and the fact that they are the only duo remaining in the competition as reasons he believed they could become especially interesting later in the season.

That meant Brandy became the first contestant eliminated during the Season 30 Battles.
The decision immediately produced disagreement among viewers, with some believing Brandy deserved another opportunity and arguing that competing alone against an established sister duo put her in an unusually difficult position.
But Riley now has even harder decisions ahead.
On Monday, Joe Henley will face Kenna Elpers on Team Riley.
Joe became one of the most talked-about singers from the Blind Auditions after performing Travis Tritt’s “Anymore” and choosing Riley over Kelly Clarkson.
Riley will also pair Caroline Alexis against Everett Bounds.
Queen Latifah has an especially difficult Battle coming when Kayleigh Mathews faces Lillie Kolich.
Both singers earned four-chair turns during the Blind Auditions, meaning one of two contestants who originally convinced every available coach to turn will suddenly be at risk.
Queen will also oversee a Battle between Alt Bloom and Morgan Lett.
Kelly Clarkson’s Monday matchup includes Koumba Diallo versus Lance Tenazas.
Koumba was another major four-chair standout after performing Demi Lovato’s “Stone Cold,” making the matchup another example of how little a huge Blind Audition guarantees once the Battles begin.
Adam Levine will send Connor Closs against Cal Cook.
Connor earned two chair turns with Hozier’s “Too Sweet” before choosing Adam over Riley, while Cal entered the competition with only Adam’s chair.
Then the pressure continues Tuesday.
Queen will pair BigCountry against Luke Cope, while Marcus Ladden Jr. faces Chari.
That second matchup could attract particular attention because Chari earned a four-chair turn during the Blind Auditions.
Kelly’s Tuesday Battles include Hazel Gerson against Nina Howland and Johnnie Kapua against Anna McElroy.
Nina also entered the Battles carrying major expectations after earning four chair turns with Bonnie Raitt’s “Love Me Like a Man.”
Riley will send Keiyana Osmond against Brendan Coulter, while Adam has another intriguing matchup between Luke Curran and Evan James.
Evan earned three chair turns with Morgan Wallen’s “Wasted on You” before surprisingly choosing Adam instead of country coach Riley Green.

The Battles also bring a different mentor to each coaching team.
Riley is working with Carly Pearce, Kelly with Ariana DeBose, Queen with Patti LaBelle, and Adam with Alex Warren.
Importantly, losing a Battle does not always mean an immediate exit.
Each coach has a Steal, giving some losing artists the possibility of continuing with a different team.
But Brandy did not receive one after Riley chose Ferryn & Brinkley, making her departure final.
And the pressure will only become more intense after the Battles.
Season 30 later introduces Cut Week, where coaches will dramatically reduce their teams before the Live Shows.
For now, though, the focus is on the Battles — and the very first one already proved how quickly a promising contestant can suddenly be sent home.
Ferryn & Brinkley survived Riley Green’s first major decision.
Brandy Neelly did not.
And with 11 more Battles spread across October 12 and 13, several other fan favorites are about to face the same risk.
